Logging In to Canvas

1 The first step is to open ucdenver.instructure.com and click Username or email

Updating your Canvas Home Page

9 STEPS

1 The first step is to open Dashboard

Uploading and Sharing Files in Canvas

14 STEPS

1 If you'd like to upload readings or other files to your Canvas course, click Files.

2 To create a folder, click Add Folder

3 Type in your Folder Name

4 Click Accept

5 To add a file to your folder, click on the folder you created.

6 Click Upload to select the file you want to upload to Canvas from your computer.

7 To add the file to the home page, click Home

8 Click Edit to edit a page in Canvas.

9 Click your cursor on the page where you want to list your reading.

13 A link to download the reading will appear on the page. Once you are finished, click Save.

Creating and Editing an Announcements

1 To add a new discussion click Discussions

7 To resize your image on the page, with your mouse, click on the corner of the image while holding the button down and drag your cursor inward.

8 To embed a video on the page from YouTube, click on the YouTube button.

9 Type in what you want to search for in the search bar and Press Enter

10 To embed your video on the page, click Embed.

12 To record a video from your computer, click the Record/Upload Media button.

17 You can preview your recording before your post by clicking the play button.

20 You can choose from the options and assign a grade to your discussion if desired. click Points to choose how you display your grade.

Publishing Your Course

9 STEPS

1 The first step is to open SEHD Community Hub and click Settings

2 You can change the image for the course that shows up on the Canvas Dashboard if you wish.

3 You can update the Name to match your course.

Step 3 image

4 You can update the Course Code to match your course.

Step 4 image

5 Scroll down and click Starts: to update the start date for your course.

6 Click Ends: to update the end date for your course.

Step 6 image

7 Scroll down and click Update Course Details to save any changes you make before you leave the page.

8 To publish your course, click Home

9 Finish publishing the course by clicking Publish.
